ORC Organic Rankine Cycle Power Plant For Waste Heat Recovery , Hot Water Sourced

ORC Power Unit

Based on ORC technology, the ORC Power Unit can maximally convert the waste heat generated from production process into electrical energy, which not only reduces the impact to environment but also creates significant benefits. Based on strong technical team and its experience, SMDERI developed three types of ORC Power units for different waste heat sources.

Available Service: project design, engineering, procurement, construction / turnkey contracting service.

Three Types of ORC Power Unit:


1. Hot water sourced ORC power unit
This type of power unit is used for hot water at temperature of 90-150 ºC.
Theoretically, the electricity generated could reach up to 1.4 ~ 4.0 kwh per metric ton depending on the temperature of hot water, heat drop to be taken, temperature of cooling water, air temperature, etc.
Hot water: In temperature of 90-150 ºC / Flow rate over 300t/h.
Organic working fluid: R134a, R245fa, alkane-family fluid.
Condensing type: Water, evaporation or air cooling.
Capacity per unit: 500 ~3,000 KW.
Application: Waste heat recycling field where generates hot water at temperature over 90 ºC &

with flow rate over 300t/h.
Geothermal power plant
Advantages: Effectively recover the heat energy in the waste industrial hot water to generate electricity.

Payoff period within 3-4years, depending on the price of local electricity.

2. Flue Gas Sourced ORC Power Unit
This type of ORC power unit is used for waste heat contained in flue gas exhausted from turbine, diesel engine, cement kiln, gas conduit of coke furnace, etc.

This unit consists of two systems called as flue gas heat exchange system & ORC power system. Through flue
gas heat exchange system, the heat transfer oil absorbs the heat by means of heat exchange with flue gas. The heated and high temperature heat transfer oil flows into the ORC system for heat exchange with organic working fluid, where the temperature is lowered down, and then the heat transfer oil flows back to flue gas heat exchange system for next cycle. The organic working fluid is evaporated into organic working steam to drive the turbine expander generator combination working for power generation.
Organic working fluid: R245fa, alkane-family fluid.
Condensing type: Water, evaporation & air cooling.
Capacity per unit: 1,000 - 6,500 Kw

3. Process Fluid Sourced ORC Power Unit
This type of ORC power unit is used for the process fluid from the oil refining & chemical processing system which needs to be cooled, such as the overhead gas, top circulating backflow, gasoline, diesel, etc. The process fluid makes a direct heat exchange with the organic working fluid, which has the advantage of high efficiency power generation.
Organic working fluid: R245fa, alkane-family fluid.
Condensing type: Water, evaporation & air cooling.
Capacity per unit: 500 ~5,000 KW
